Get Published: Publishing Options

There are a lot of options for publishing these days. The ones I list are meticulously researched. I hand-picked them for you because I trust the source. Please be aware that, as in any other industry,  there are both reputable and disreputable publishers. Please do your own due diligence before making a publishing choice.

I am not trying to produce a comprehensive listing but merely get you thinking about your options.

Consumer Protection with Preditors and Editors

Preditors and Editors is a site that helps you defend yourself against shady publishing, agenting, contests and more in the writing and publishing arena. Check this website when you are considering a publisher.

Amazon.com Publishing – CreateSpace

You can publish for free with CreateSpace and rest assured your book will appear in the listings right away. Your only cost is around $8 to produce and ship 1 proof copy of your book. You can create the cover using their free templates. Minimum length is 36 pages.

Revising your book is easy; you can revise your book for only the cost of an additional proof.

Publish to Amazon Kindle FREE!

You can publish even a short report to Kindle, and it’s free. When you publish to Kindle, you are officially a published author!

AWOC Books Dan Case, owner of AWOC Books was my first publisher. He is a small publisher. Publishing is print on demand. Cost per book is commensorate with what you would expect to pay for a short run of books. YOU the author keep all your rights. Be sure to review the types of books he publishes to make sure what you want to present fits. Don’t expect much in the way of editing. Dan is a good guy and very fair.

Who Promotes Your Book?

No matter whether you self publish or go to a traditional publisher, YOU DO!!! Get used to it! You’re not John Grisham or Dan Brown. Never expect anyone else to believee in or promote your book more than YOU.
