Let Article Marketing Re-Define Economic Stimulus for Your Business: How Can You Drive Traffic to Your Website

How can you use article marketing to define your own economic stimulus?

Any business owner wants and needs to get traffic to your site. In this economic season – or any economy, you can define economic stimulus for yourself by generating more interest in what you are doing. Article marketing is an excellent way to accomplish this goal.

Like any other strategy, you need to know how to write articles in a way that generates traffic to your site. If you’re not getting good results, you’re probably not applying the strategy effectively.

One author I know complained to me that he had some articles in places like EzineArticles.com but had not seen traffic coming from them.

“What’s your resource box?” I asked him.

His resource box, which is where you get to say something about yourself and crow about your offer. His just said he was the author of this book and go visit his site. Well big whoopty-doo! The resource box and title are even more important than the body of the article. Although of course you want to provide good content.

If the resource box does not cause people to have a reason to visit your site, then you have wasted your time. I’ll show you how to write a good one – but now, on with the story.

“What about your titles?” I asked him.

“I think they’re fine.”

Ha. We’ll see. I went to EzineArticles.com and looked this author up. His titles were as boring as watching cement set (simile). And his resource box had no keywords and no call to action. So not only were his titles so bland that nobody would stop to read the article, but if you did read the article, you just went, “that was good” and had no reason to take time out of your hectic schedule to visit the author’s site.

No wonder he wasn’t getting any traffic to his site and no wonder nobody picked up his articles to use in their own ezines!

Which leads you right back to the question that started this post.

5 Elements of an Article

< ?xml:namespace prefix =”" o ns =”" “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

  1. The sizzling title makes ezine owner or reader investigate the article to see if this could be interesting or valuable. Be sure to incorporate 1 keyword & make the title grab attention! This is most important, because it determines whether someone will bother reading your article or pulling it into their ezine or blog.
  2. The captivating Summary makes reader want to read the article. It is the promise on which you deliver in the body of the article.
  3. The body of the article solves a problem or provides advice, tips or strategies. Be sure to use a keyword people are searching for, as this will help you get more traffic to your site. You do not sell or promote yourself in the article.
  4. Tags are the keywords someone would put into Google to find what they’re looking for. Be clear and specific. “Shopping” is so vague. “Shopping for diamonds” is much more specific.
  5. Resource box is the ONLY PLACE where you advertise your business. After reader reads the article, they see the resource box, which must motivate them to take action & visit your website. This box and the title are the most important parts of the article, because the title causes someone to stop and read, and the resource needs to be so compelling that people go visit your website.

Before You Get Started:

  1. You’re going to need to save the articles as plain text files using something like Notepad. Make sure there are no weird characters like little boxes.
  2. Never elude to another upcoming article in a series except in the title
  3. Do some keyword research. My favorite tool is ClickAd Equalizer, because it gives you specific numbers of searches for whatever word you searched AND derivatives. It also tells you about any affiliate programs.
  4. Learn how to write attention-grabbing titles. Pick up a National Enquirer to study the headlines. Use the best ones as templates for your own.
  5. Pack your resource box with relevant keywords.
  6. Create a tantalizing free offer that you use in the resource box so that readers have a reason to come to your site.

Incorporating article marketing into your traffic strategy

1.. Be consistent. Strive to write 1–2 articles per week that incorporate your best keywords.

2. Take your articles and post them onto your blog, using the full, approved embed code from the site.

3. Rewrite/spin your articles so that you can submit them to an article syndicator, such as Article Marketer. Article syndication gives you much broader distribution than any single article directory. Think “Dear Abby” or any other syndicated columnist you know.

Resources

Keyword research ClickAd Equalizer – this is a 1–time affordable purchase and well worth it.

Article Syndication – Article Marketer. You can pay quarterly or annually for better pricing, and it is well worth it. Good encouragement to be consistent.

Turn your articles to videos. Article Video Robot is a new tool that turns any article into a video quickly and easily. you may record your own audio or use the synthesized voices that come with the membership. Want an example? Watch this.

The quality isn’t superb – however, remember you are doing this more for “Google juice” which can bring traffic than for esthetics. I suspect the technology will improve over time. Get a free trial membership to Article Video Robot here.

Article Directories: I have a list of article directories on the Article Marketing Page on this site.

Article Marketing and Blogging: I found a good article called, “Using a Blog as Part of Your Article Marketing Plan.” This gives you some good ideas.

Be consistent! Just like blogging or any other form of traffic generation, consistency is key.
