Seeking Story Submissions to Feature in My Upcoming Book: How Has Writing a Book Improved Your Business?

If you are a published author of a print book, you could be featured in my upcoming book, Instant VIP, which teaches entrepreneurs & other business owners how to write a book that increases customers, contacts and profits.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

I am featuring stories from entrepreneurs/business owners sharing how being a published author has changed your business.

If this is YOU – I’d love to include your experience!

Instant VIp Ebook cover

ebook cover- Instant VIP

You’ll find out how to submit your experience in a moment.

Examples of results attained because of being a published author:

I have already received some fabulous stories from author experts! I’m really excited about each and every story, AND about the wide variety of niches in which they do business. For example:

  • One author in a highly competitive market submitted a project bid. Competition was stiff. He included a signed copy of his book and got the job.
  • A pair of co-authors instantly established themselves in a related but new niche by authoring a book.
  • Another author uses her book to generate leads for her training program and has seen a dramatic increase in enrollments.
  • A coach became an author and finds it easier to attract coaching clients as a result.

These are just a few examples that I’ll be including in my book. Soon I’ll be sharing the names and stories of these authors on the blog – AND, most important – in Instant VIP.

A Flash of Inspiration

I decided to request stories when I was reading my HARO (Help A Reporter Out) update one day. HARO is a fabulous and FREE way to connect reporters with sources.

  • Reporters can be reporters for media outlets such as magazines, TV shows or internet radio shows – OR even someone writing a book looking for sources.
  • Sources can be experts in any niche or industry seeking ways to share your knowledge.

You never know what you’ll find in a HARO! And lots of people will respond, so you really can select the “cream of the crop” – the best story/resource – for your need.

The description below of what I’m seeking is a modified version of my HARO query.

How to receive the HARO reports

Experts can register to receive requests 3 times per day on weekdays. There can be 30 or 50 or more requests from reporters in each issue.

Why am I including stories from authors about how writing a book has improved your business?

(What I’m about to share applies to YOU as well) Simply take this idea and use it for YOUR niche or need.

  • When you see numerous stories about how writing a book improves business, you will build belief that you, too, can get results like that.
  • Stories catch your attention more than facts or even step-by-step. It’s part of how your brain works. You’ll remember stories  You’re wired for stories.
  • Reaching out to people you don’t know (or don’t know well) as well as people you already know increases your circle of influence.
  • People love to see their name in print.
  • Someone who shares even a short blurb is likely to tell other people that they’re featured in a book.
  • And they’re likely to buy a copy and perhaps cause several or dozens more to be purchased.
  • Authors featured in your book may want to promote your book when it comes out.

Promoting the Book

A few of the author experts who responded to my first request have already asked me to let them know when the book is out so they can promote it. Woo-HOO! Build-in promotion partners.

If you use this strategy:

Here are some things to consider when you use this type of strategy. And actually, you’re getting the inside scoop, because I haven’t even told my HARO people some of the cool things I’m doing for them.

  • If you’ve worked with me or read this blog before, you know I’m going to say “start with the goal.” What do you want to happen? First, get clear on what you want from the submitters so you don’t have to go back and forth.
  • Now for the “cover your rear” piece of advice. Get a signed release that gives you permission to use the material in the work and in promotion of the work. Doing so gives you protection from someone, for whatever strange reason, deciding they don’t want their name and story in your material. I got 1 note back from someone with an AWESOME story who said it just didn’t feel right (to get a whole bunch of free publicity for them and their business). Go figure, but cover your assets.
  • Acknowledge the submission in a special way inside your book/project. I’m including all the names of authors whose stories I’m using in the Acknowledgments section of the book.
  • Thank the sources for their submission. They’re adding depth and richness to your book or other project.
  • Update the sources on the status of the project. I’ll let them know when the book is ready to publish and how to order.
  • Give the sources a way to profit from the project if possible. I’ll offer them the opportunity to join the affiliate program. I’m also providing them a special resource to share if they choose.

How to Submit YOUR Experience for Possible Inclusion in Instant VIP:

All you have to do is leave me your blurb (a couple of paragraphs is fine) in the comment box below.

Here is what I’m looking for:

I have a book almost ready for print that teaches entrepreneurs, business owners, speakers, coaches and the like a simple system for how to write a book that explodes your business.

I am including statements from entrepreneurs in various industries who have written a book. What I want is
a statement about how writing and publishing a book has changed your business. Have you gotten more media attention? More referrals? Bigger ticket sales? more long-term clients? Something more unusual? Your story could be selected for the book.

Please share the following information:

  • full Name:
  • Industry/niche:
  • Book title:
  • Publication year:
  • Logline (1–sentence description of the book)
  • How has becoming the author of a book changed your business?

Thank you for enriching my book with your experience. I truly appreciate YOU!

What Happens Next?

Once you submit your information below, I’ll review it. If I select you for the book, I’ll email you a release form to sign and return to me.

Thank you

OK – time to share!

Remember:

  • full Name:
  • Industry/niche:
  • Book title:
  • Publication year:
  • Logline (1–sentence description of the book)
  • How has becoming the author of a book changed your business?

Ken McArthur Seeking Co-Authors: How Are You Creating An Impact on Your Community, Cause or the World?

How Are You Creating An Impact on Your Community, Cause or the World?

This is an important question. Everything you do creates an impact, for good or ill. And it does not matter whether your goal is to change one single life or a million lives. What you d

o, think and say matters. All of it causes a ripple effect that creates some kind of impact.

If you do something – something will happen.

And if you do nothing – something will happen.

Here is an example. A friend of mine is

a smoker. She has had numerous bouts with bronchitis and pneumonia. A couple years ago, she developed congestive heart failure. What has she done about her smoking? Nothing.

She had done nothing about quitting smoking…and something had most definitely happened. Her “nothing” had a negative impact on her health and, alas, she is STILL a smoker to this day.

Take a look at your goals. If you are writing a book or growing a business and you do nothing to serve people…something WILL happen. You will lose ground, lose customers, and lose income.

You want to create a positive impact

However, since you are reading this post, you are the kind of person who wants to create something meaningful for your life and business. You want to touch many lives in some meaningful way because of your work. You want to create a positive impact.

The funny thing about impact is that it is a nebulous concept. The word “impact” has no special parameters. You can talk about creating impact on your own health on peace or on your spouse – and it’s all the same word.

Impact requires a modifier – a peg on which to hang its hat, so to speak, so that you know exactly on what you want to have an impact.

Another interesting thing about impact is that until recently, there was nothing systematic you could point to and say, “This is the way you systematically go about creating an impact on your target.” Then a couple of years ago, Ken McArthur started writing the definitive guidebook to having a meaningful effect on your life, your community, your charity or whatever you want to change.

HOW do you create an impact in a measurable, systematic way?

Often, you have an impact on someone’s life simply by the way  you greet them or how you answer the phone or whether you smile. Yet creating a huge impact goes far beyond the one tiny moment.

You need to ask yourself and then to write down your goals. Next, get specific on whose lives you want to touch and in what way.

For example, I met a man at one of Ken McArthur’s events who is passionate about getting the use of cell phones while driving banned. The desire to do this came from one tiny moment in his friend’s life. On the man’s wedding day, a day that should have been joyous, one of his children died in an accident because the driver was texting while driving.

Whether your goal is to create change in legislation, perception or policy, or whether your dream is to start a foundation serving a certain group, or whether your deepest desire is to bring potable drinking water to everyone in the world – every huge impact starts with

1. A single, unplanned – or perhaps a better word is unorchestrated – event. This event may be as devastating as the death of your child as I mentioned in the story above, or it could be a simple conversation by 3 men who sat on a couch in a hotel talking about their goals and dreams, and from this conversation came all Ken McArthur’s live events AND his desire to create a system for impact.

2. A key decision that arises from the event. The loss of a live in the first case and the impact movement in the second all started because after the key event that “started it all” happened, someone decided to take action in order to reach a goal.

3. Once the journey to reach a goal and create an impact began, the person (or people) who started it develop a following. I don’t know how far along the no texting guy is in his journey but I know Ken McArthur, and because of his passion and the way he does business, he has grown a loyal following of people, many of whom share his vision to unlock the key to creating impact.

Ken McArthur Wrote The Definitive Guide to Creating Impact

Impact: How to Get Noticed, Motivate Millions, and Make a Difference in a Noisy World received a number of important accolades.

IMPACT hit the top of 3 bestseller lists:…

And after that,

Now, the story continues.

Ken wants to include YOUR story of creating impact in his next book, The Story of Impact.

Now YOU can have your own chapter in Ken McArthur’s next book – the Story of Impact

#HubChallenge: Ronda Del Boccio The Story Lady Enters 30 Hubpages in 30 Days Challenge

I must be nuts – or maybe I’m simply dedicated to serving YOU well and creating more loyal readers.

Hubpages are essentially articles about a particular topic. People write hubpages to drive traffic to your site and even to make a little money. I’m in it for the chance to add fresh material on how to write a book, storytelling, book launch, bests

elling authors, and similar areas that you read about all the time on this blog. (If you’re not a subscriber, go ahead and subscribe right now.)

So what I have to do is to create 30 hubpages in 30 days. That’s a LOT. Every day for the next month, I need to put up a new hub.

Here is a quote from another hubber who has accepted the challenge:

belief713 profile image

Anyone who doesn’t participate in this challenge in some way is just plain foolish, if you ask me. This challenge is already creating a huge stir in the online marketing & blogging world, and therefore will create a huge potential for great link juice. It will stand as a trend topic, but if you create evergreen content, you should have no problem with creating a residual income from your efforts.

The point is to put out “evergreen” material – meaning it won’t be out of season in a week – so that your hub is of service and value to readers.

30hubsin30days

I’ve been a bit slack about updating my blog lately

Watch this video about how to make a great hub …

Look for posts on Twitter with the hashtag #HubChallenge in my tweets to see what I’m up to.

And be sure to join HubPages and join in the challenge. Your 30 days starts when you do!

Ten Million CLicks for Peace Wants YOUR Inspirational Stories

guest post by

by Julian Kalmar, Founder
Ten Million Clicks For Peace

10 Million Clicks for Peace Tag

Do you remember how it felt to read “Reader’s Digest” or the feeling you got from Jack Canfield’s Chicken Soup for the Soul book series, or even the stories by Disney?

Those positive, touching feelings are what we are striving to deliver in the 10 Million Clicks For Peace Blog which we’re about to launch. The world so desperately needs inspiration, hope, kindness, beauty, and love, and we intend to deliver this spiritual nourishment to humanity through both practical information and touching stories.

To do this, I need your help, Ronda.

No doubt you’ve been touched by stories you’ve heard every now and then, stories you’ve heard as a child, stories told by relatives, friends, co-workers, and even those you’ve read on the Internet. Don’t forget those stories that came from your children as you stood there speechless, completely staggered by the life-wisdom they saw through their bright innocent eyes. And, please don’t forget those amazing stories of your pets and even wild animals who spoke to you in their own special way about love and kindness.

We need those stories for our blog.

One type of story that is particularly prized is the story of surviving violence to lead a greater more successful life–tragedy to triumph. Regardless of whether it’s a story about becoming a war refugee, surviving domestic or gang violence, any story with an uplifting, happy outcome will inspire many people. These stories could come from personal experience, friends or family members. [Did you know that Albert Einstein, Jackie Chan, and Sigmund Freud were all refugees of violence and rose above their circumstances to lead even greater lives?]

Think back to the most touching stories you heard or played a part in as a child, or stories your parents would tell over and over from the old days, or even kindnesses you’ve recently witnessed or received.

These stories have become part of the fabric of your being because they moved you, and they provide a kind of teaching that is often missing or lost from this modern age–they were handed down from one generation to the next. They are the types of stories from the old-time radio programs, that shaped people’s thinking, attitudes, beliefs and hopes. They opened your heart, gave you courage, made you believe you could reach higher, that things were never as hopeless as they seemed, that if the thing you wanted had been done by someone else, you could do it too, and most importantly, that greater things than you imagine are possible to you!

Some of these stories and feelings have no doubt come back as you’ve read this. Don’t second guess yourself. This is exactly what we’re looking for to help raise other people higher. You’re reading this because you are part of this mission.

How do you submit a story? Read more  —>
