Let me give you an example.

Everyone Faces challenges. It’s part of being alive!

Mine is that I’m “legally blind”

What did it mean to grow up with my “mess” of low vision?

Things that you take for granted are not a “given” for me. I could not read normal print until finally I got some very expensive glasses at age 12.

A friend of mine whined to me that she had to go buy reading glasses from the drugstore.

“How much did that set you back?” I asked her.

“About $10.”

“My first pair of reading glasses cost $500. Now a non prescription set is about $125….
and I am so grateful that I can see well enough to read print.”

I cannot see individual leaves on trees – and how blessed I feel because I can see the green.

You use your eyes to read the computer screen – and I use an expensive piece of software so the computer reads to me. The software costs over $1,000.

Technology is truly a blessing for me!

Finding a job was challenging for me. (Now I work from home!) so right out of the gate, many employers saw my “disability” and not my ABILITY!

Most of this is a MESS –AND it is a source of power.

Here before you is, more or less, your life.

Quick Summary Version

You finally went for something big.
You hit a pile of obstacles.
Assuming you stuck with it – you gained more than your dream.

The Hero’s Journey in Detailed form…

You had a rough start in life.
You felt dissatisfied with the world:
you wanted something better–something more.
Chances are good that for a period of time, you did nothing to take action.
You only wished.
Something made you stop wishing and start searching.
Longing and desire began to rise up within you.
You searched for an answer, but for a while found dead-ends, wrong ways, swindlers, dream-stealers and other obstacles.
You found some good nuggets along the way, but not the whole answer.
You might have fallen into a pattern that kept you in the life you did not want.
Perhaps you figured out what you are passionate about, but at first you did not commit to change.
You experienced a “wake-up call” or other herald of change that started you on the right path.
Finally, you realized what you wanted and made the decision to go for it.
You had a guide or mentor who helped you as you started out,
and you received some knowledge or gift that helped you immensely.
Obstacles got in your way, often a ‘gate-keeper,” shape-shifter, or dream stealer.
Doubts clouded your judgment, but finally your spirit/passion/purpose asserted itself.
Eventually your drive for a better life won and you acted despite your doubts and fears.
Once you survived the first round of challenges and developed a strong belief in yourself and your “mission,”
The barriers went away, dissolved, or conceded to your desire for a while.
Things moved along great. Everything started falling into place for you.
Then you hit a wall, either another gatekeeper/dream stealer or some challenge that threw you off your stride completely.
You lost momentum and perhaps lost your big dream again for a time.
Then your passion/purpose/spirit rose up again and you moved ahead with zeal and drive.
You encountered someone just at the right time who helped you make a key move forward on your path.
You achieved more success and created something wonderful for your life.
You were not satisfied with just getting yourself out of your old life.
You desired to help not only you and your family, but others.
You developed a plan – a business or organization or creation to evangelize your message.

What you just read is the classic hero cycle in a detailed form.

Never let fear turn you away from your hero path!

but become your best self
